The 2011 WFCA State Tournament opened with 53 Student Congress participants debating legislation Friday afternoon, with the top 12 advancing to the Super Session that evening.

On Saturday morning students pervaded Ripon College and Ripon Middle and High Schools for three rounds of competition. Semi-finalists performed after lunch, leading to the final round of the top six in each category.

The awards ceremony paid tribute to Ken Thames, WFCA's first tournament director starting in 1971 who died earlier in the week. The lifetime coaching accomplishments of Tom August of DeForest were recognized as he was named the 2011 Hintz Memorial Award winner. Six seniors received $1,000 scholarships. Individual event finalists and champions were announced, and the awards finished with the team awards.

Team champions were James Madison Memorial in Division 1, Cedarburg in Division 2, and Durand in Division 3.
