STATE TOURNAMENT UPDATES Congress Legislation Judge & Coach Meeting Prior to State Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at 7:00pm there will be a pre-state meeting for judges and coaches on Google Meet, https://meet.google.com/huu-zcjd-fph. We'll go over some logistical things and expectations for judging at the biggest forensics tournament in the state. State Meal Tickets—Double Check How Many Adult Meals You’ll Need At the state tournament, all registered judges get a free lunch. In your team's packet will be included $6 worth of meal tickets for each judge listed in your registration. There is no need to purchase additional adult meal tickets when you register your team in Speechwire, unless you're bringing extra adults not registered as judges. There will also be complementary coffee and assorted breakfast snacks in the judge hospitality area. State Meal Tickets—Make Sure to Tell Your Students Let your students and judges know that the food lines in the cafeteria will only accept tickets, which can be purchased in advance on Speechwire or from a separate table in the cafeteria. This is to keep the food lines moving expeditiously. Recording Rounds at State Several of the semifinal and final rounds will be video recorded by WFCA authorized personnel for educational purposes. These will not be published on social media, and will only be accessible by WFCA member coaches. Any other recording in competition rounds is strictly prohibited. |

ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRIES
Team eligibility and limits: All schools are eligible to register a team of up to 25 entries, with a limit of 4 entries per category. Additionally, schools can enter the Student Congress event with a limit of 16 entires; these entries are separate and do not count against the 25 allowed in forensics events nor do they count toward team sweepstakes points. There are no qualifying tournaments leading to the State Tournament; all schools may participate.
Guest schools may compete at the WFCA state tournament one time without having paid WFCA dues. Any guest schools who wish to participate in the WFCA state tournament in future years will need to pay dues in those future years.
Affiliate Membership entries: If no forensic team exists at a student's school, they may apply for an affiliate membership. An affiliate member will be eligible to participate at the WFCA State Tournament as an independent participant.
Student entry limitations: A student may not be entered in more that one event within a tournament. If a virtual tounament is offered, they may be entered in both the in-person and virtaul tournaments, and they may be in different categories between the two tournament formats. Students may be entered in both the Student Congress event in addition to their entry or entries into the forensics tournaments.
Fees: $10 per individual entry, $15 per group entry, and $10 per Student Congress entry.
Judges: Each school will need to provide one quality judge per five entries, or fraction thereof. (For example, 5 students = 1 judge, 6 students = 2 judges, etc.) The head coach is responsible for ensuring all judges hired by them know the WFCA category rules, judging etiquette, schedule for the day, and judging tournament attire. Judges must be available for all five rounds. Hired judges are available at a cost of $35 per entry not covered by the school’s judges.
Conversely, if you know of high quality judges you will not be bringing to the State Tournament, please share those names and contact information with us. We may use them.
