RIPON, Wis. (April 11, 2015) – The Wisconsin Forensics Coaches' Association (WFCA) announces the winners of the 2015 WFCA State Tournament. The event was hosted by Ripon College, Ripon Middle School, and Ripon High School.
This year’s congress, speech, and interpretive event state champions include
- Niyaz Nurbhasha from Brookfield East High School in Congress
- Renee Kar-Johnson from James Madison Memorial High School in Demonstration Speaking
- Andrew Maddox and Sam Wood from James Madison Memorial High School in Duo Interpretation
- Alekh Kale from James Madison Memorial High School in Extemporaneous Speaking
- Annika Clawson from Arrowhead Union High School in Farrago
- Ellie Landwehr from Arrowhead Union High School in Four Minute Speaking
- Arthuro Cortes, Arnulfo Cortes, Zebediah Boos, Ramon Rocha, and Ben Cruz from St. Lawrence Seminary High School in Group Interpretive Reading
- Dahlia Tesfamichael from Divine Savior Holy Angels High School in Interpretation of Poetry
- Dell Hune from Sun Prairie High School in Interpretation of Prose

Senior competitors awarded $1000 scholarships were

- Kaleigh Pieroth from Arrowhead Union High School
Coach Elliott Fischer from Sun Prairie High School was awarded the William Hintz Memorial Award for Coaching Excellence.
In team awards, James Madison Memorial High School was named Division 1 State Champion, Wauwatosa East High School was named Division 2 State Champion, and Durand High School was named Division 3 State Champion.
The tournament marks the capstone of high school competitive speech activities for thousands of students around the state. This year, more than 941 participated in the WFCA State Tournament from 71 schools.
About the Wisconsin Forensics Coaches Association
Established in 1972, the WFCA's mission is "to instill and develop in students communication skills vital for a lifetime of effective participation in a democratic society." To that end, the WFCA promotes the interests of Wisconsin interscholastic forensics by assisting in the regulation and improvement of forensic practices and by serving as a forum for the airing of opinions concerning forensic activities. Member schools receive notices of invitational tournaments through an official mailing list. In addition to sponsoring a full calendar of tournaments, WFCA offers training and program support.
